Stand By

I totally messed up the template of my blog. I'm trying to fix it, so if things are a little screwy, that's why. UGH.

Silly Josie

This is what our self-taken pictures usually end up looking like. Donny loves taking them. I just now realized there are a lot of pictures/videos of Josie half naked. I swear she is usually clothed. Well, I may be wrong about that. She's a kid. She still has her run-around-naked card. Enjoy it while you can Jos!

Here is Josie's modified nativity set that she carefully organized. Later, she added a Gandalf ornament that stood over the manger. Genius.

Josie has a thing with anything that's Donny's. Donny doesn't even use a binkie but Josie thinks they are fun. This picture will probably be funnier to my immediate family. My sister sometimes used 2 binkies at once when she was a baby.

We have several inches of snow on the ground now. Here's Josie getting ready to go play in it! What more do you need?

I knew it would happen someday and I'm surprised it took this long. She was so proud of the job she did and gladly handed over the lipstick when she was done. The best part is, she was right next to me the whole time and I didn't even realize what she was doing. Oh, and about the car seat, again she has a thing with Donny's things lately.

Josie would probably kill me for posting this if she were old enough to care. Since she isn't, and it's my blog, enjoy her poop dance. This is a common thing for her. She gets very.....um.....squirmy before she fills her pants. I only caught the last 10 seconds of it. Also, this movie may be a few months old. From the summer?

Some funny things she has said lately:

I wanted to take her to this place that was selling used toys outside that I drove by on the way home. I told her we were going somewhere fun, not wanting to say more than that in case it was closed. Sure enough, it was closed. Josie kept squealing, "Yay! Somewhere fun!" over and over again. As we drove past, I decided to suggest plan B. I said, "Josie, do you want to go to the library instead?" Seeming to understand, she replied, "Oh no!! Fun is broken. Go to library instead?" Yes Josie, sometimes fun is broken.

The other morning: "Josie, what do you want for breakfast?"
Josie: "Ummmmm.......how 'bout......a salad!!"
Me: "A salad?"
Josie: "Yep. And dressing?"
Me: "Ok, what else?"
Josie: "A cookie? No, no, no, no cookie for breakfast. (muttering under her breath) Blueberries? No, no blueberries for breakfast. A cupcake? No, no cupcake now.

She does this all the time. It's so funny. She will suggest something she knows I will say no to and she will turn herself down like she is having a conversation with herself. Also, she is way into salads lately.

The biggest thing that happened to Josie lately is that she lost her beloved Snuggly. It was a sad, sad day. We looked and looked at each of the places we went and he was no where to be found. Fortunately, we did have a backup one, but of course, she cannot be fooled. Snuggly was ratty and dirty and this new one we offered her was soft and clean. So when she asked where Snuggly went, we handed her the new one and told her it was the real Snuggly, he just had a bath and got all clean. She didn't buy it. We kept telling her that Snuggly took a bath in the tub and now he looks all clean and new. So later that night, as we were putting her to bed, she kept crying to go into the bathroom. I finally let her and she ran in, frantically looked into the tub, pointed at the drain and said "Snuggly take a bath and go down drain!! Snugggly all gone!" It was horribly sad and I felt so sad for her. Now she thinks her best friend was washed down the drain and we presented her with an impostor to take his place. She hasn't forgotten yet either. At least once a day she sadly tells me that Snuggly's gone and went down the drain. I was sad too, cause I had hoped to keep him for her baby box. Oh well! For now, she has hesitantly accepted the new one as her comfort friend and she has started calling him Snuggly. Hope he gets as much love as his predecessor.

Donovan- 4 months

So I was pretty crappy about taking pictures and documenting anything this last month. I guess things are getting busier gearing up for the holidays. We will be gone for a month over Christmas, so I am starting to prepare already. Anyway, our sweet little boy is already 4 1/2 months old! I don't have a well check until next week, so I don't know stats. I think he is around 14ish pounds and not sure how long. He is starting to chunk out more, but still seems slightly skinnier than Josie was. Maybe it's her chubby cheeks that made her seem bigger.

He is such a happy, smiley guy! He smiles at anyone that will give him attention and is always prepared to offer a giggle when tickled. He is a terrible sleeper lately and I will be glad when that ends. I looked back to see what Josie was like at 4 months and I guess she was terrible at sleeping too. Must be a 4th month thing. I'm sure he'll grow out of it. Hopefully before he's 2, haha. Luckily, I seem to be able to survive ok on no sleep.

His new talents are grabbing and holding toys, putting things in his mouth, rolling BOTH ways and propping up on his arms. He likes rolling onto is tummy and is starting to turn while on his tummy to reach things.

He still likes to nurse probably every 1-2 hours. Apparently, I make snackers. That's fine with me as long as he can hold on while I get things done. Whatever keeps him happy!

He's such a sweet, cuddly guy and would be happiest if mommy could hold him 100% of the day instead of just 90%. Yeah, there are days I really wish he took a binkie. His pacifier of choice is my finger. That doesn't work too well in the car or when sleeping during nap time. He sucks on his fingers too, but those pesky things can never seem to hold still long enough to stay in his mouth! I love that he is very attatched to me, it just makes it hard to get anything done. Oh well, I guess the only real duty I have that matters is loving my kids. I've got that covered! My house is another story.......

We decided to let him try the exersaucer. It sometimes buys me about 5 mins of time to do something nice like, you know, shower or go to the bathroom.

Our happy guy : )

Notice the two fingers. He must get that from Josie.

Some pre-nap giggles:

Josie loves giving Donny love : )
